Debut Authors Bash: Kristin Halbrook's Top Ten Destinations to Visit

Debut Authors Bash at yareads.com

Hi everyone! Welcome to my post in the Debut Authors Bash (organized by Nichole at YA Reads, who has done an awesome job with it) taking place all of this month! I hope you are having a great time getting to know the many YA authors that have debuted this year.

Today, I'm bringing to you the author of Nobody But Us, Kristin Halbrook! I haven't read her book yet (but it's been on my to-read shelf for a few months), but there seems to be a road trip in it, and road trips are one of my favorite things to read about. Because of that, there is a top tens list that involves places Kristin would travel to.

I hope you enjoy the post! Don't forget to enter the amazing giveaway at the bottom.

(Goodreads Bio)

When I was little, I wanted to be a writer, the President of the USA or the first female NFL quarterback. Despite being able to throw a wicked spiral, I didn't really grow to the size needed for the NFL. Then, as I got older and studied more, I came to realize there were better ways to effect positive change than becoming president. The first one, however, stuck. Even when I was pursuing other dreams, I always took time to write here and there. NOBODY BUT US will be published by HarperChildren's in 2013.

When I'm not writing or reading (which is what I do all day, in all of my work), I'm spending time with pixies, my Mad Scot soulmate, and one grumpy cocker spaniel; traveling across oceans and time; cooking and baking up a storm and watching sunsets and waves crash on the beach. I currently live, love and explore in The Emerald City, though I occasionally make wispy, dream-like plans to move to New York, Paris or a Scottish castle one day (if just temporarily). Top Ten Destinations (Real or Imagined) I Want to Visit

I want to start by saying thank you to Kaitlin for hosting me on her blog today, and to Nichole for organizing the Debut Bash. You ladies are awesome!!!

Okay. In no particular order, here are ten real or imagined places I’d love to visit:

- A farm in the Swiss Alps. There’s a lot of romance surrounding this idea: the animals! The delicious food! The amazing scenery! But I also like the idea of the hard work a farm requires and the resulting satisfaction at the end of the day.

- Angkor Wat. This Cambodian religious site has been on my to-see list for a long time. I’d like to see it soon, especially since major restoration efforts end this year.

- Narnia (the peaceful years). Talking animals, fantastical creatures and general happiness could lure me to Narnia—so long as the White Witch isn’t around!

- Hawaii. I’d really like to see lava flowing into the ocean. And do some scuba diving. And nom on delicious seafood. And hike to gorgeous waterfalls. Oh, and learn to surf.

- Eastern Canada in the autumn. The culture of Montreal, the beauty of Quebec City and the country charm of Anne of Green Gables’ house on Prince Edward Island lure me to eastern Canada. I especially want to go in the fall when the leaves are blazing golds and reds.

- Valinor. It’s where the elves sailed west to in The Lord of the Rings. Mostly, I’m just curious to see what Valinor is like. Too bad it’s a one-way street. What if I didn’t like it?

- Croatia. For the scenery, the beaches, the lively cities, the lush forests and the historical sites. If all goes according to plan, I’ll finally see Croatia next summer!

- Black Rock City. I’ve been before, but I missed out this year. I can’t wait to be back on the Playa in 2014, though. It’s really a transformative place.

- Turkey. This is another destination I should be hitting up next year. I’ve heard the people are incredibly hospitable. I look forward to exploring the coastal towns, as well as Istanbul, “The Venice of the East.” As with most locations on my list, I can’t wait to sample all the food!

- Equestria. Yup, where the My Little Ponies live. Because I’m all about friendship and manes of fabulous hair.

What are your must-see places?

Will

Maybe I'm too late. Maybe Zoe's dad stole all her fifteen years and taught her to be scared. I'll undo it. Help her learn to be strong again, and brave. Not that I'm any kind of example, but we can learn together.

When the whole world is after you, sometimes it seems like you can't run fast enough.

Zoe

Maybe it'll take Will years to come to terms with being abandoned. Maybe it'll take forever. I'll stay with him no matter how long it takes to prove that people don't always leave, don't always give up on you.
