Witch Fall was a nice book. It may not be one of my favorites, but there is definitely something about this series that pulls at my interest. It's a very interesting one, and I'm looking forward to reading more from it!

MY FAVORITE THING

The world. It's quite unique. There are witches that control elements through song. They sing. How cool is that? It's one of the biggest things that grabs my interest in this series and makes me read the books. It seems like a such a small thingliking a book a lot for simply having witches that singbut it's so different and awesome. I love the whole concept behind the kinds of witches and I love how it was carried out in this book (and Witch Song).

I also really liked how this prequel had a Chinese influence in its world. Again, it may seem small, but I have a thing for books with Asian historical elements. They stand out! Between the descriptions and the people (and the elephant; I have to mention the elephant), there were many nice cultural touches that I really liked.

MY LEAST FAVORITE THING

It was. Really. Slow. I trudged through this book. While I liked the story and the characters quite a bit, it took forever for me to read. This book isn't the most engaging (neither was Witch Songthat one took me a long time to read to) or thrilling, but thankfully, that was one of the only things I didn't like about it.

OVERALL

Witch Fall is a good prequel! It ties in real nicely with Witch Song. It had a really cool world that made reading the book worthwhile, as well as a decent story and set of characters. While it felt incredibly slow for me, it may not feel that way for others. If you're seeking a good, witchy series, I recommend looking to this one!

  2. Yes! Someone mentioned the elephant! That was one of my favorite scenes, when the elephant charges through the city. The elephant was actually a metaphor for how the Witches abused the elements. :)

  7. I love how different witches can be from a book to another, from having a wand in HP, to being casters on Beautiful creatures, to now singing their powers (kind like mermaids, without the man attraction haha). I never had heard of this series, but now I'm looking for to read it! Great review :)
