HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSICA!
When Eli first sent me an email asking if I was interesting in being a part of this scavenger hunt type thing for you, I didn't hesitate to say yes. Of course. You're a super awesome person and blogger, and I am so, so happy that I get to write this post in celebration of your birthday.
I hope you're having fun reading our #BloggersLoveJess posts! Since you and I both love Sara Bareilles's music, I've decided to share five of her songs that I love. And since you admire her as a songwriter, I decided to share some of the lyrics from the songs as well. I absolutely love great lyrics.☺
For everyone else reading this post, Jessica from Fly to Fiction and Lit Up Review has turned 17 today! Go wish her a happy birthday on her blog or on Twitter!
Without further ado, here's five Sara Bareilles songs that I love.
"Gonna Get Over You"
This song is so much fun.☺ The main reason why I'm including it is because I've just discovered the music video. There's dancing!
Maybe is a vicious little word that can slay me
Keep me when I'm hurting you make me,
Hang from your hands
This was one of the first Sara Bareillas songs I listened to, and it's always been one of my favorites. I absolutely love the lyrics, especially the ones I included below. Whenever I hear that part of the song, I get a strong image inside my head: there's someone standing in a box, with her head down and her hands pressed against the walls on either side of her, pushing hard against the box and breaking it to pieces. Every time.
So I sing, I hold my head down and I break these walls round me
Can't take no more of your fairytale love
Just listen to the lyrics. You'll understand why I love this song to pieces.
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is
So darn beautiful. So sad, too. This song is just . . . I just love it. I love everything about it. This is one of my favorites of the week.
Don't come morning
Don't come light
They may be lies
Say that we'll be alright
If we stay tonight
This is my favorite Sara Bareilles song. There's no doubt about it. It's a very powerful song and I simply love the lyrics. One of my favorite parts of this song, though, is the dance Mia Michaels choreographed and Kayla and Kupono performed on So You Think You Can Dance. It was such an amazing dance (one of my favorites of the entire show, ever) and I usually think of it as I'm listening to the song.
You loved me 'cause I'm fragile
When I thought that I was strong
But you touch me for a little while and all my fragile strength is gone
The blogger next on the list is a really cool blogger whose name starts with the same two letters as mine does. She's a huge nerd, especially for books and Pokemon. She runs a blog with a really nice co-blogger.
