It's My Blogoversary and I'll Blog if I Want To

Hopefully, I will like doing this enough that I will continue this blog after my school year starts. (quote from my first blog post)
June 8th, 2013 was my first day of summer break before senior year and the day I decided to start a blog. I created it, picked a title based off of my favorite quote, altered it, did a few other things, and wrote my first blog post with the thought that I would try blogging for the summer. Now it's a year later and I never once thought of quitting. So, I have to laugh at that sentence from my first post.

Anyway! Happy first year Blogoversary to Reading is My Treasure!

I'll just dive into some highlights of my year.

Friends I've Made

Leigh @ Little Book Star ~ My senior blogger buddy whose blog may or may not have helped me decide to finally create Reading is My Treasure :)

Meredith @ Pandora's Books ~ One of my very first blogger friends and ones I've talked about books the most throughout this year :)

Jeann @ Happy Indulgence ~ One of my most loyal blog followers who never fails to leave a nice and meaningful comment on my blog!

Jessica @ Fly to Fiction ~ A really relatable and easy to talk to girl who, when given the opportunity to write a blog post dedicated to her for a birthday scavenger hunt, I immediately say "of course" for

Eli @ RealityLapse ~ The incredibly organized guy that I always like talking to on Twitter (and my first event co-host!)

Nikki @ There Were Books Involved . . . ~ The one the can convince me to read anything because she gets so darn excited over the books she loves that it's contagious

Crystal @ Crystal in Bookland ~ The super awesome VA & Bloodlines fan (and Adrian) who is one of the easiest people to talk to on Twitter

Jessica L. Brooks ~ My biggest author friend who always gives me cookies to cheer me up, to make me less hungry, or just to simply give me a cookie :D

Favorite Moments/Accomplishments
  • Participating in a summer readathon that got me addicted to Twitter (blogging wouldn't be the same without Twitter)
  • Hosting my very first giveaway!
  • Logging onto Edelweiss to find that the red decline symbol next a book I had been declined for had been turned green (though it was expired) and proceeding to find out that I had been auto-approved my HarperCollins
  • Receiving Fire & Flood in the mail (my first print ARC request via a form)
  • Participating in the #LoveAThon, Twitter parties, and other events
  • Participating in an ARC tour
  • Making incredibly awesome friends online and being a part of the amazing blogosphere
  • Reaching 1000 Twitter followers (I still can't quite believe it . . . where did you all come from?!)
  • Reaching 600 total blog followers (I just recently discovered this!)
  • Getting an amazing blog design
  • Organizing my first big blog event including authors (Class of 2014)
  • Becoming a bigger book pusher than I ever was before
  • Getting incredible opportunities to review books before they're published, to interview authors, to have my reviews and thoughts read, and so many more things that I never imagined doing before I was a book blogger
  • Never once reading a negative comment on my blog. Not a single one.
A Few Goals for Year Two
  • Broaden my reach to more people - this means more followers, more pageviews, more interesting posts).
  • Start reviewing print ARCs on a regular basis - this is something that I really want to experience, and I also want to be able to share the books that I review in giveaways, trades, etc.
  • Start a feature and stick with it - I've started and discontinued so many features!
  • Be more consistent - this will include actually scheduling posts and keeping up in reviews, discussions, interviews, memes, etc.
  • Make more blogger friends! - this is obvious.

In my first year of blogging, I never gave any books off of my own shelf. What better way to kick off my second year than to give a couple books away?

Both giveaways will end on June 29th @ midnight PST. The first one is open only to the US, while the second is open to international people as well. Make sure you read my giveaway policy before entering.

US Giveaway
I'm really inexperienced with sending mail, so I'm just going to send two packages.

Prize 1: Any two books from the pile below + swag
Prize 2: Any one book from remaining books after first winner picks + swag
The Ring and the Crown (ARC) by Melissa de la Cruz
3:59 (ARC) by Gretchen McNeil
Maybe One Day (ARC) by Melissa Kantor

International Giveaway
There's so many international people that I like, so I'm also going to give away one ebook of winner's choice. I just ask that it be a YA novel that is less than $10 (US) and has released anytime between June 8th of 2013 and the end of this month.

I agree that Twitter is invaluable for book bloggers. It took me forever to breakdown and start an account but I am happy I did. Once again, congratulations on your graduation. 15. I'm sooooooo late to commenting on this (I blame these stupid 60 hours work weeks) BUT CONGRATS LOVELY! Your blog is one of my favorites, and one that I regularly try to check in with when I actually have time to read blogs, which sadly isn't often. Hope your next year of blogging is just as wonderful as your first.

    1. Thank you, Angie! (I'm super late with commenting back, so it's okay. :D ) Thank you!! That means so much to hear that my blog is one of your favorites! I have a feeling my second year will be even better than the first. :)
